I built a browser game in one weekend with Opus 5.5, 5,000 people now play it every day, and the $3 skins already paid for my Claude plan four times over

here's how to build a game like this with Claude Opus 5.5 + three.js...

the trick is building the world around one walk, but there's a smart way to set it up:

  • step 1: grab a rigged character as a .glb, the three.js examples have a free CC0 robot with 14 animations
  • step 2: ask Opus for one index.html with low-poly hills, instanced trees, rocks, a pond and a dirt path
  • step 3: draw the route as one spline and put a place to discover on it: a mill, a crystal pond, a broken arch, a tower
  • step 4: tie animations to the route, so the robot walks, runs, waves at the mill, jumps the log and dances at the end
  • step 5: add the game layer: a quest list with checkmarks, a minimap, crystals to collect and ", discovered, " popups
  • step 6: follow it with a third-person camera that turns to face the robot when the quest is done

who does what:

three.js: the world, the light and the shadows
the .glb: the character and its 14 animations
Opus 5.5: the terrain, the route, the HUD and the camera
you: walk it once and fix whatever feels slow

and the rule that keeps players coming back... give them a reason to reach the next place, because a checklist and a minimap turn a walk into a quest

start with one route and six places, then add a second valley once people finish the first
