I was very resistant to AI game development. In the past, I've spent over a year building a single game, going through 10+ iterations of custom artwork, and obsessing over every detail.
I think the real opportunity belongs to game designers who understand more than just how a game should look. They understand what makes a game fun, how it progresses, and why players keep coming back (walking isn't gameplay).
I can now start with 15 ideas, build and playtest all of them, take the best few into a second round, narrow those down again, and eventually spend weeks perfecting the one or two that really have potential.
I don't miss writing state machines or endless boilerplate code.
For the first time, I get to spend nearly all my time making the game fun instead of writing the 1s and 0s.
