This game was vibe coded. And I’m proud of it.
Does that make me a sham? An artist? Am I taking jobs away from actual game developers? I dunno. Maybe there’s a little truth in all of that.
But I think as people continue to grapple with AI and what it means for creativity, we’re missing something.
So many people approach AI game development with these enormous ambitions. “Look at me! I’m making the next GTA! The next Bully! The next Red Dead Redemption!”
And then you see the results and, well, a lot of it looks like crap.
But imagine what you could do with this technology if you weren’t trying to reinvent the wheel. If you just wanted to make a fun little game that YOU wanted to play, and thought maybe some other people would enjoy, too.
Something silly. Something charming. Something that wouldn’t exist otherwise.
Ladies and gentlemen, just in time for Halloween, I present Monster March: Castle Climb! 🎃🏰
It’s a little indie game. It’s vibe coded. I think it’s full of charm, and I happen to find it quite delightful.
And if you look at this and see something soulless, I genuinely don’t know what to tell you.
Because I put an awful lot of mine into it.
Anyway, what do you think? Is vibe coding making game development accessible to more people, or are we all just making AI slop?
