The New Era of AI Game Development Belongs to Creative Minds

One more thing about AI game development and game development overall. I genuinely believe that the people who will have the biggest advantage in this new era are the insanely creative ones who are also brilliant at testing their own work.

Of course, you need at least some basic technical knowledge. You should understand how things work, why you would choose Unreal Engine over Unity, when Three.js or WebGL makes sense, and which technologies are best suited for what you’re trying to build. You don’t need to be an expert in everything, but you should understand the fundamentals.

But that’s not really my point.

I believe the biggest advantage in the AI era will belong to people with crazy creativity, incredible attention to detail, and the obsession to make everything as perfect as possible. People who can imagine something completely unique, describe it in detail, and keep pushing until they achieve exactly what they envisioned. Because that’s what AI allows you to do. Iterate, iterate, iterate until you get it right.

But there’s another skill that’s just as important: being an absolutely brilliant tester.

You need to play your own game and immediately recognize what’s wrong. You open a menu and think, “What the fuck is this UI? I want to exit the game, but where is the button?” Or you try some mechanic and realize it makes absolutely no sense. And then you ask yourself, if this doesn’t make sense to me, how the hell is it supposed to make sense to a casual gamer?

You need to understand the player’s perspective, have a good feeling for UI, UX, visuals, gameplay mechanics, and the overall experience. You need to recognize when something feels wrong, even if you can’t immediately explain why. And most importantly, you need to be willing to fix it, test it again, and keep improving it.

That’s why I believe the perfect profile for the new era of game development is a crazy creative person, an obsessive perfectionist, and an exceptional playtester, all in one. Someone who understands technology at least on a basic level but has an incredible vision and the ability to recognize what makes a game genuinely fun.

AI can help you build almost anything, but it cannot replace your creativity, your taste, your judgment, or your understanding of what players actually want. That’s where humans will make the biggest difference.

And if this sounds like you, just go and buy those AI subscriptions and start building. My personal choice is Claude, and I genuinely believe you can create absolutely amazing things.

I wish you all the best. The opportunities ahead of us are incredible. 🚀
