Ocarina of Crime:为何《塞尔达传说》能摆脱《GTA 6》的阴影
Ocarina of Crime: Why Zelda is able to escape GTA 6’s shadow
Hello there!
I’ve had quite the week. On Thursday, I travelled to Middlesbrough in the UK for the New Horizons conference. Middlesbrough is a town in Yorkshire where you’ll find a couple of notable game developers, including Minecraft Dungeons studio Double Eleven, plus the UK office of Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour.
Nevertheless, it’s not where you’d expect to find a big games conference. And yet, New Horizons has attracted some pretty big names. Including that of ‘father of PlayStation’ Ken Kutaragi, who I had the privilege of interviewing on stage at the event.
Now, I’d met Ken before, and my Spidey senses were telling me that this was going to be a tricky chat. Ken speaks great English and understands it well, but it’s not his native language. And I struggled to follow some of his answers. In fact, at one point, Ken asked me a direct question that I couldn’t decipher. I am still not entirely sure what it was.
That’s the challenge with live, on-stage interviews. There’s no ability to make edits or corrections in post, or even stop the recording to make some suggestions. You’re on the rollercoaster, and you just have to strap in.
I was following a lot more by the end of the session, and it was genuinely insightful (and quite far out there at points). Certainly, some people in the audience were following along, laughing and clapping at the right moments.
I was planning to put the interview out this week for you, but we will need a little bit longer to sort out the subtitles and see if we need any dubbing.
I’m looking forward to hearing what he had to say as much as you are!
GTA 6 is already sucking the oxygen out of the room
